Helen E. Etzler, 98, of Convoy, passed away at 8 a.m., Wednesday at VanCrest of Convoy. She was born on April 6, 1918, in LaSalle County, Illinois, the daughter of the late John Lester and Hattie (Deffenbaugh) Boyd. On June 1, 1941, she married Arnold Jacob Etzler who also preceded her in death on March 1, 1981. Family survivors include her three daughters, Linda (Ken) Louth of Coldwater, Michigan, Wanda (Sidney) Blush of Convoy, and Frances (Ron) Neiswander of Convoy; ten grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Richard Dean Etzler; a brother, Joseph Boyd; and four sisters, Avis Ward, Alma Feldner, Cristle Boyd and Zola Young. Helen was a 1937 graduate of Ridge High School. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy where she was a former Sunday school teacher and member of the Dorcas Guild. She was a former 4-H leader and member of the Van Wert County Farm Bureau and the Convoy Garden Club. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, December 31, 2016, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Convoy, with Rev. Michael Saylor officiating. Interment will follow at Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery in Harrison Township. Calling hours are 9 - 11 a.m., Saturday also at the Church.
