Harold Wayne Callahan, Sr., 68, of Van Wert passed away at 11:55 p.m., Friday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on February 1, 1949, in Erwin, Tennessee, the son of the late Arthur and Frances (Ingle) Callahan. He was also preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Russell and Luella Ann (Mottinger) Pangle; his grandmother-in-law, Lucille Mottinger; and a sister, Shirley Callahan. Family survivors include his wife, the former Fauna Ann Pangle, who he married November 8, 1990; a son, Harold Callahan, Jr., of Van Wert; two brothers, Arthur Callahan of Downey, California and James Callahan of Bluff City, TN; three sisters, Patricia Grossenburg of Winner, South Dakota, Sherrie Welcher of Chickamauga, Georgia, and Juanita Pepper of Bonesteel, South Dakota; two step-sons, John (Heather) Fuerst and Joe (Mandi) Fuerst all of Van Wert; a step-daughter, Jamie (Tony Rowe) Fuerst of Van Wert; 11 grandchildren, Savannah Callahan, Pearl Callahan, Daniel Callahan, Taira (Jerrod) Knodel, Adam Fuerst, Brooke Fuerst, Tiffany Fuerst, Bradley Fuerst, Jacob Fuerst, Aden Fuerst and Aron Fuerst; and three great grandchildren, Malawi Camacho, Addalynn Thomas, and Tenley Knodel. Harold was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had worked at Teleflex and was a self-employed contractor. He was currently working at Federal-Mogul in Van Wert. He enjoyed his work, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and his dogs, Colby and Snickers. He greatly loved his grandkids and great grandkids and especially his wife, Fauna. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2017, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mohr Cemetery in Hoaglin Township. Calling hours are Tuesday 2 - 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
