Geraldine Ellen Cowell, 89, of Van Wert, passed away at 9:54 p.m., Monday at the Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on September 20, 1924 in Painesville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Floyd and Jessie (Myers) Brown. On March 26, 1941, she married Earl Wesley Cowell. He preceded her in death on September 28, 1986. Family members include a daughter, Gloria Cowell of Van Wert; a son, Ronald Cowell of Portland, Oregon; two grandsons, Travis and Christopher Cowell of Portland; two brothers, Robert Brown of Hamler, Ohio and Carroll Brown of Columbus; special friend Kelci Crawford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Basil and Donald and one sister, Thelma Bodenbender. Geraldine was a member of First United Brethren Church in Van Wert and had worked 21 years of Eaton Corp. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, August 1, 2014, at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Jodi Harr officiating. Preferred memorials are to the American Heart Association or the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center.
