Geraldine L. Akom, 90, of Dayton, Ohio, formerly of Haviland passed away Tuesday evening, August 14, 2024, at Vancrest of New Carlisle.

She was born on August 17, 1933, in Mercer County the daughter of the late Orby L. Hurless and Ireta F. (Hartzog). In December 1971, she married Maurice Akom who preceded her in death on December 13, 1995.

Other family members include her three children, Linda Welker of Van Wert, Randy Gramling of Van Wert, and Melvin (Carol) Burch of Winter Haven, Florida; 13 grandchildren including Jamie and Kim Ream, Rob and Lori Ream;  and 28 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, Geraldine was preceded in death by her children, Robin Ream, Roger Ream, and Kenneth Burch; brothers, William Hurless and Orby Hurless Jr.; sisters, Isabel Steele and Eloise Hurless; and grandchildren, Cynthia Burch and Collin Ream.
