Gary M. Gehres, 82, of Willshire Township, passed away at 9:34 p.m., Monday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert. He was born on April 14, 1934, in Wren, Ohio, the son of the late Orley and Juanita Lola (McClure) Gehres. On June 25, 1955, he married the former Barbara Jean Weaver who also preceded him in death on November 20, 2002. Family survivors include his three children, Kevin M. (Ann Wolford) Gehres of Ohio City, Kimberly J. (Bill) Clifton of Van Wert, and Kelly A. (Scott) Rostorfer of Venedocia; seven grandchildren, Kyle Gehres, Sara (Silas Mitchell) Hartman, Alisha (Adam) Brincefield, Abbie (Tony) Barker, Allie (Jason) Kalsow, Alex Rostorfer, and Corey Clifton; and nine great grandchildren, Adrine Mitchell, Savannah Mitchell, Silas Mitchell, Gavin Gehres, Evin Brincefield, Eastin Brincefield, Emmalin Brincefield, Colton Wolford, Leah Wolford. Gary was a 1952 graduate of Wren High School and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Aeroquip Corp. in Van Wert with 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Pauls Reformed Church in America, American Legion Post 34 in Decatur, Adams Moose Lodge 1311, and the Birdville Cooners of Wren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 11, 2016, at St. Pauls Reformed Church in America in Harrison Township with Pastor Chad Strabbing officiating. Interment will follow at Evangelical Protestant Cemetery where military rites will be conducted. Calling hours are Thursday 2 - 8 p.m., at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and one hour prior to services Friday at the Church. Preferred memorials are to the Birdville Cooners.
