Fern Eloise Book, 92, of Van Wert, died at 11 a.m., Friday at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on June 17, 1920, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late Ira Asa and Mabel L. (Shafer) Redlinger. She was married to Charles W. Debolt who died on August 6, 1977. She then married Rev. Rea Book on August 11, 1979, and he died on September 12, 2009. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce I. Leighner. Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl J. (Chris) Knapp of Tucson, AZ, Linda (Ron) Miller of Delphos, Ohio, and Elaine (Don) Heindel of Willshire, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Charlie Leighner, James Leighner, Ginny Schaadt, Ty Cortney, Trey Cortney, Corey Heindel, Andrew Heindel and Joe Heindel; and thirteen great grandchildren. Fern was a 1938 graduate of Van Wert High School and had been an homemaker and also worked at Central Mutual Insurance in Van Wert. She had attended St. Mark's Lutheran Church and Zion United Brethren Church and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert. Services will be held at 10:30 Monday, March 25, 2013, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Willshire Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
