Fay D. Gardner, age 70, of rural Van Wert, died June 13, 2017, at 10:37 a.m., in her home after fighting a long battle with several cancers. Fay was born on August 15, 1946, in Peoria, Illinois to the late Samuel and Helena Moehring. Surviving is her best friend and husband, Frank R. Gardner, Sr. Fay married the love of her life, Frank, on April 15, 1967 and they just celebrated their 50th anniversary. Fay was a lover of dogs and all creatures. She loved to stay busy with her hobbies: traveling, gardening and knitting. Fay is also survived by two sons, Frank R. (Michelle) Gardner, Jr., of Ottawa, Ohio and Faron (Joyce) Gardner of Pflugerville, Texas; five grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Faron, Jr., Nate, Alexandria and Caden; a sister, Mary of Illinois; and a brother, Joe (Donna) Moehring of Arizona. Several sisters in Illinois also preceded Fay in death. Before retiring in 2008, Fay worked on microchip development with several companies.
