Evelyn J. Stemen, 89 of Miamisburg, Ohio, passed away at 7:40 p.m., Thursday at the Sycamore Glen Health Center in Miamisburg. She was born on February 18, 1928, in Lakeville, Indiana, the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Fremont D. and Kittie A. (Johnson) Stemen. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth M. and Madelene D. Stemen. She is survived by numerous cousins. Family was important to Evelyn and she exemplified this by being instrumental in continuing the annual Johnson Family Reunion. You could count on Evelyn to not only attend but to capture many moments and families in photographs. Evelyn graduated from Arcanum High School and International Business College in Fort Wayne. She served as executive assistant to the chairman of the board of Mead Company in Dayton. She loved to travel, play Bridge, enjoy and sometimes collect art. She was also a long time Red Hat member. Evelyn attended Normandy United Methodist Church in Dayton. She was an avid reader and often shared her books with other family members. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, July 24, 2017, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery.
