Esther Jane Henrey, 91, of rural Wren, Ohio, went to the arms of her savior at 12:55 on March 25th, 2014 at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert. She was born on May 22nd, 1922 to Anna E. (Gahman) and Clarence R. Abbott in Craigville, IN. She graduated from Tully Convoy High School in 1940. On April 9th, 1944 she married James Paul Henrey. Left to cherish her memory are her children, sons Jim (Sue) Henrey, of Wren; Don (Charlotte) of Salem, West Virginia; and Carolyn Wells of Van Wert. Other survivors include six grandchildren, Eric Henrey of Wren, Matt (Heather) Henrey of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Laura (Joe) Warnement of Kalida, Mark (Amy) Wells of Dayton, Philip (Beth) Wells of Waupaca, Wisconsin, Matavia and Bobby Johnson of Ashland; 4 step-grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. She worked at the GE Plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana and the National Seal in Van Wert before becoming a homemaker. She had a special interest in the Heritage Bible Board, and was a member of the Wood Chapel Church for 50 years, leading songs and teaching Sunday School while also being a member of the missionary societies. She was a member of the Antioch Chapel Friends Church for 25 years. For the last 2 years, Esther attended Countryside Church of the Nazarene near Wren. Esther Jane was a Chapter Mother for FHA, member of the Wren Garden Club, and also the local Homemaker's Club. She was an avid gardener, loved to cook and bake for her family, and was an active, hardworking farm wife on the farm that she started with her husband: Kiss 'n' Holler Farm. She loved music, especially hymns and gospel sings, and enjoyed listening to her family make music. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Robbins officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her remembrance to the Heritage Bible Board.
