Eric Gene Hammond, 43, of Van Wert, died at 1:16 p.m., Wednesday at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne. He was born on September 26, 1971, in Van Wert, the son of the Marcia K. (Snyder) Dangler surviving of Van Wert and the late Orville L. Hammond. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Roger Dangler. On August 18, 2007, he married the former Alison R. Agler and she survives. Other family survivors include his step mother, Judy Hammod of Van Wert; five children, Chris Lathrope of Van Wert, Eric (Stephanie) Hammond, Jr., of Van Wert, Nick Hammond at home David Parsons at home, and Markie Agler of Van Wert; four grandchildren, Braddex, Gavin, Gabriella, and Chase; one brother, Neil Hammond of Van Wert; six sisters, Tina Hammond of Van Wert, Jessica (Josh) Dangler of Van Wert, Megan Pardon of Van Wert, Stephanie (Jerry) Hare of Willshire, Rose (Matt) Powell of Ottawa, Kansas, and Tracey Priest of Pittsville, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Eric was a member of National Rifle Association. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, January 11, 2015, at Trinity Friends Church, Van Wert with Pastor Steve Savage officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 - 6 p.m., Saturday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services Sunday at the Church. Preferred memorials are to the Family.
