Emmaline Whittington, 79, of Pleasant Township, passed away at 12:17 p.m., Friday at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on June 14, 1933, in Lafe, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Barnie T. and Eula May (O'Guin) Gibble. On May 28, 1954, she married Leon Whittington who survives. Other family members include a son, Allen (Theresa) Whittington of Van Wert; a daughter, Angela Jaylene (Bruce) Albee of Middle Point; one sister, Thelma (Ishmael) Shelton of Oakwood; four brothers, Talma (Marilyn) Gribble, Melvin (Barb) Gribble, Alvin (Gail) Gribble, and Lee (Lolita) Gribble all of Grover Hill; four grandchildren and one step grandchild; and seven great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Mrs. Whittington was preceded in death by two brothers, Denzil and Verlin Gribble and three sisters, Eladis A. Hinchcliff, Leona Busbey and Sliva Deckard. She attended Liberty Baptist Church and retired from the Van Wert County Hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, May 27, 2013, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert with Pastor Jim Burns officiating. Burial will follow at Middle Creek Cemetery, near Grover Hill. Calling hours are 10 a.m., Monday until time of service. Preferred memorials are to the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
