Elzie Wayne Fry, 94 of Van Wert, died at 8:55 p.m., Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the VanCrest Health Care Center in Van Wert, Ohio. He was born on August 24, 1923 in Ohio City, Ohio, the son of the late Harry Richard and Arnie Irene (Custer) Fry. On December 23, 1944, he married the former Georgia M. Pierce, who survives at the residence. Elzie was a 1942 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a bus dirver for the Greenville Bus Company and retired from Eaton (Aeroquip Corp.) He was a member of the Van Wert American Legion Post #178 and of the Woods Golf Course. Family survivors include is wife Georgia; two sons, Richard (Clair) Fry of California, and Daniel (Sandra) Fry of Virginia; daughter, Linda Suzanne (Jerry) Martin of Minnesota; five grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, step grandchildren, & step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Joan Schaadt and Ola Mae Carr. Funeral services are scheduled for the Thursday, November 9, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, November 8, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemtery in Ohio City where military honors will be provided by the combined posts of the American Legion and V.F.W. of Van Wert, Ohio.
