Obituary

Ellen L. Kohn, 77 of Ohio City, died at 7:25 p.m., Sunday January 19, 2014 at the Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert, Ohio. She was born on July 23, 1936 in Liberty Township, Van Wert County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Gladys Malinda (Brown) and Bryon C. Stump. On September 11, 1954, she married Max Lee Kohn, who preceded her in death on June 5, 2010. Ellen retired as a librarian from the Brumback County Library. She and her husband owned & operated Kohn's Korner in Ohio City for many years. She was a member of the Ohio City United Methodist Church; a 1954 graduate of Ohio City Liberty High School; member of the Van Wert Chapter 348, Order of the Eastern Star; was a avid reader; and enjoyed genealogy, scrap booking, her grand kids and great grand kids. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Melinda Kohn of Van Wert; two daughters and son-in-laws, Nancy and Dannie Boroff & Karen and Tim Dull, both of Ohio City, Ohio; sister, Marcella Williams of Jackson, Michigan; sisters-in-laws, Bonnie Gribler of Goodyear, Arizona, and Janice Kohn of Ohio City; brother-in-law, Terry Kohn of Hasting, Michigan; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Sean Ryan) Kohn, Cassie (Drew) Waltmire, Brooke (Aaron) Allmandinger, Bryan Boroff, Tricia Boroff, Drew Dull, D.J. (Kristi) Dull, and Darci Dull; and five great grandchildren, Gannon & Gage Allmandinger, Hartley Waltmire, Briggs Ryan, and Colby Dull. She was preceded in death by her brother, Doyt Stump, killed in WWII; sister, Glendora Allmandinger Girod.; and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, 2-7 p.m. at the funeral home, with a O.E.S. service scheduled at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, January 23, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Kevin Wilcox of the Ohio City United Methodist Church. Interment is at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City, Ohio. Memorial contribution are to the Ohio City Fire Department & E.M.S. or the Ohio City United Methodist Church.
