Donald W. Jent, 76, of Ohio City, died at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday at Heritage Park Nursing Home in Fort Wayne. He was born on May 25, 1939, in Letcher County, Kentucky, the son of the late John F. and Mabel (Caudill) Jent. On July 21, 1961, he married the former Joyce Ann Rice who preceded him in death on December 23, 2001. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Alice Grimes and a brother, George Jent. Family members include his son, Bradley D. Jent of Ohio City; two daughters, Debra K. Jent of Hudson, Indiana and Lori L. (Brent) Kohn of Ohio City; a brother, Jimmy (Mary) Jent of Rineyville, KY; one sister, Nancy (James) Moore of Elizabethtown, KY; five grandchildren, Devin Jent, Alexa Jent, Travis Kohn, Madison Kohn and Emma Kohn; and two great grandchildren, Jack & Penelope Kohn. Don retired in 1995 from Aeroquip Corp., in Van Wert after 34 years of service. He had attended the former Antioch Chapel Friends Church. He was a volunteer on the Ohio City Fire Department for forty years. He also was a member of the Rockford Eagles Lodge and the Van Wert Moose Lodge. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, watching sports, and he spent many hours grooming the ball diamonds at the Ohio City Fireman's Park. Services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor James E. Robbins officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 12 - 3 p.m., Saturday. Preferred memorials are to the Ohio City Fire Dept., or the Alzheimer's Association.
