Dennis Jay Kever, 70, of Van Wert, passed away at 6:35 p.m., Sunday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert. He was born on January 12, 1947, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Marvin Kenneth and Mary Jane (Lare) Kever. On November 5, 1977, he married the former Janet Sue Lord who survives in Van Wert. Other family members include his daughter, Brittney Ann Kever of Columbus; a sister, Patricia (Roy) Hauter of Convoy and two nephews, Dustin and Jason Hauter. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Alan Kever. Dennis was a 1965 graduate of Crestview High School and a member of the Convoy United Methodist Church. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Federal Mogul in Van Wert after 44 years of service. Dennis was a member of American Legion Post #178 and Robert G. Longwell Post #5803, Veteran of Foreign Wars both of Van Wert. He and Janet enjoyed playing Bingo at the Council on Aging. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the combined honor guard of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Calling hours are 10 a.m., Thursday until time of service. Preferred memorials are to the Convoy United Methodist Church.
