Della Mae (Jones) Evans, 91, of Van Wert, died at 3:39 p.m., Wednesday at the Van Wert County Hospital. She was born on December 8, 1921, in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of the late Melvin and Florance (Crocket) Jones, Sr. On November 1, 1947, she married Harry Evans who preceded her in death on June 8, 1969. Also preceding her in death are a sister, Dolores Towsey, a grand daughter, Shanesa, and a sister-in-law, Mary Jones. Family survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Willie) Eddins and Ruth (George) Groves all of Van Wert; a brother, Melvin Jones, Jr. of Van Wert; three grandchildren, Damon (Shanette) Eddins, Corey (Christy) Evans and Dezmond Groves all of Van Wert; and six great grandchildren, DeShaum and Sharayah Eddins, Kaleb Groover, Cai Evans, Tiana and Xadriana Groves. Mrs. Evans was a member of the former Bethel A.M.E. Church of Van Wert. He retired from the Brumback Library after 24 years of service. She loved to read and watch her soap operas. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2013, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Victor Watts and Rev. Gus Christo-Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 2 - 7 p.m. Preferred memorials are to the Brumback Library.
