Delana Galbreath, 86, of Van Wert, went home to be with her Savior at 5:15 p.m., Saturday at the Van Wert County Hospital. She was born on May 20, 1927, in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Ollie James and Mary Jane (Knight) Drake. On October 3, 1953, she married James Robert Galbreath and he preceded her in death on March 29, 2002. She was also preceded in death by a son, Brian James Galbreath; three brothers, Mack, Bobby and Billie Joe Drake; and one sister, Sarah Magdeline Drake. Family members include two daughters, Teresa Gail (Alan) Ingalls of Dalton, PA and Myra L. (Paul) Bohner of Van Wert; five grandchildren, Jessica, Rachel and Jacob Ingalls, Katie (Kyle) Mullenhour and Kelsey (Calib Cunningham) Bohner; two brothers, Vinuard (Helen) Drake of Owensboro, KY and Jerry (Zena) Drake of Utica, KY; and one sister, Alma Ruth (Monty) Moore of Paducah, KY. Mrs. Galbreath taught in Van Wert County and City Schools retiring in 1987. She was also director of Brumback Library 1969-1976. She was a graduate of Western Kentucky State College and attended Bowling Green State University. She was a member of First Baptist Church and active in its programs. She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teacher's Association, past president and member of the Van Wert Woman's Club, and member of the Community Concert Association Board. She and her husband traveled for five years with Roving Volunteers In Christ's Service doing volunteer work for Christian organizations. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Steve A. Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 2 - 6 at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the Church. Preferred memorials are to the National Kidney Foundation.
