Obituary

Darlene N. Ditto, 81, went to be with Jesus Thursday morning, May 7, 2015, at Woodcrest of Decatur. She was born on September 4, 1933, in Guymon, Oklahoma. She was the 13th of fifteen children born to the late Gustave W. and Della (McCaskey) Sinning. During the Dust Bowl, she moved with her family to Mountain Grove, Missouri, when she was two years old. In the early 1950's, she moved to Van Wert to live with her brother Francis Sinning, his wife and family. Darlene married her loving husband Clifford R. Ditto on April 22, 1956. They moved to Monroeville, Indiana in 1961where they worked hard on their farm for more than 35 years and raised a family of two children. They sold the farm and moved to Decatur in 1995. Clifford preceded her in death on October 13, 1996. Darlene was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Van Wert. She loved spending time with her family and close friends. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing cards, Scrabble and dominoes. As a young girl, she loved riding her horse. Darlene was a giving person who always put other's needs before her own. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her daughter, Gina E. (Roy) Kuhns of Fort Wayne; a son, Ray A. (Laura Eichhorn) Ditto of Decatur; two grandsons, Shawn (Jennifer Guinan) Tinkham of Greenwood, Indiana and Brandon Ditto of Decatur; one step granddaughter, Missy (Steve) Reba and family of Avondale Estates, GA; three great grandchildren, Sam, Jack and Sophia Tinkham of Greenwood; two brothers, Floyd Sinning of Guymon, OK and Ernest "Joe" (Gale) Sinning of Van Wert; and one sister, Beatrice Schmitt of Charlotte, NC. Besides her parents and husband, preceding her in death are seven brothers, Elmer, Earl, Elvin, Dean, Francis, James, Robert and an infant brother, Albert; and four sisters, Ella Landess, Edith Pearl Hinds, Eunice Webber and Charlene Spoor. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert with Pastor Josh Tissot of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Family LifeCare of Berne, IN; Alzheimer's Association; or to the donor's choice.
