Clarence Sanderson, 103 of Van Wert went to be with our Lord at 4:40 p.m., Tuesday March 19, 2013 at the C.H.P.-Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert, Ohio. He was born on August 20, 1909 in Paulding County, Ohio the son of the late James Harvey and Nancy Elizabeth (Shinaberry) Sanderson. On April 5, 1930, he married Clara Maye (Walters), having been married for 67 years and had 7 children. She preceded him in death on December 9, 1997. Clarence actively farmed for over 70 years. He was also a minster at Haviland Baptist Church in the 1940's and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Van Wert. Family survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Craine of Xenia, Ohio, Carol (Curt) Proffitt of Van Wert, and Cleona (Frank) Van Voorhis of Conway, South Carolina; two sons, Clayton (Liz) Sanderson of Leo, Indiana, and Craig (Cindy) Sanderson of Auburn, Indiana; 123 family members which includes 21 grandchildren,, 43 great grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Sanderson and Carl Sanderson; twin sister, Clara Mosier; half sister, Nellie Curtis; brother, Furl Sanderson; great grandson, Chase Sanderson; and great great granddaughter, Evelyn Whittcar Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, March 21, 4-8 p.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, Ohio. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 22, 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church (1388 Jennings Road, Van Wert), officiated by Pastor Steve Robinson, with visitation one hour ahead of the service. Interment is at Blue Creek Cemetery in Blue Creek Township, Paulding County, Ohio. Memorial contribution be made to First Baptist Church of C.H.P.-Inpatient Hospice Center.
