Cheryl A. McPhail, 70, of Van Wert, passed away at 9:36 p.m., Thursday at VanCrest Health Care Center in Van Wert. She was born on July 27, 1947, in Van Wert the daughter of the late Bertram E. and Zelma L. (Harter) Crates. On August 17, 1974, she married Robert F. McPhail who survives. Other family survivors include her two sons, Dennis "Lynn" (Margaret) Wilhelm of Hanford, California and Robert (Alisa) Wilhelm of Ohio City; a sister, Sue (Dana) McClure of Mansfield; a step-son, Robert D. (Chris) McPhail of Van Wert; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Philip, Robert, Katelyn, Justin, Kaylee and Nick; and two great grandchildren, Liam and Finn. Besides her parents, Cheryl was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Norman Crates. Cheryl was a graduate of Lincolnview High School and had attended Grace Community Church in Bryan. She had worked at Fishers Big Wheel, Heck's, Purmort Bros. Insurance and Wal-Mart in Van Wert. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 2, 2018, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Kelly of Grace Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 5 - 8 p.m., and one hour prior to services on Friday. Preferred memorials are to Grace Community Church in Bryan.
