Chad E. Cox, 42, of Van Wert, died at 10:25 p.m., Saturday shortly after arrival at Van Wert County Hospital. He was born on November 19, 1973, in Decatur, Indiana. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Christina (Rayer) and Rex Craig of Van Wert and his father, Kenneth Cox of Florida. Other survivors include two children, Mackenzie Cox of Van Wert and Corbin Cox of Rockford; two brothers, Jeremy Cox of Philadelphia, PA and Nicholas Cox of Van Wert; a half-sister, Stephanie Hageman of Plainwell, MI; two step-sisters, Kari VanNatter of Grand Haven, MI and Dana Schurman of Zeeland, MI; his paternal grandmother, Helen Friemoth of Columbus; and three nephews, Evan, Kohen, and Caleb Cox. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Milford and Josephine Rayer. Chad was a 1992 graduate of Van Wert High School. He had worked at Teleflex for 15 years and was currently employed at Miller Precision Industries in Van Wert. He enjoyed playing sports with his children and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 3, 2016, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Campbell officiating. Calling hours are 12 noon until time of service on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the family.
