Lloyd R. "Bud" Prichard, 88, died Monday morning at his residence in Van Wert. He was born on March 3, 1928, in Ohio City, the son of the late Alta Ralph and Hattie (Dunbar) Prichard. On September 26, 1953, he married the former Shirley Mae Highley who survives. Other family members include his two sons, Kevin L. (Gretta) Prichard of Ohio City and Kent R. (Jacquie) Prichard of Van Wert; a daughter, Sandy K. (Ron) DeVecchio of Van Wert; six grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Slavik, Nic DeVecchio, Jacob York, Spencer Prichard, Jason (Allison) VanTilburg, and Kristi (Chris) McFarlane; ten great grandchildren; and his loving dog, Pepper. Bud was preceded in death by his twin brother, Floyd in infancy and his sister, Helen Irene Poling. He was a 1948 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and active in Boy Scouts in his youth. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army and member of Post #178 of the American Legion, Van Wert. He attended LifeHouse Church in Van Wert. He retired from Continental Can Company - Sonoco after 43 ½ years of service. Bud enjoyed square dancing for over 40 years as well as woodworking, crafts and entertaining people with his many tricks and jokes. He followed Ohio State University sports and the Detroit Tigers. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Braun officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the combined honor guard of American Legion Post 178 and V.F.W. Post 5803 of Van Wert. Calling hours are Wednesday 1 - 7 p.m.
