Betty Louise Owens, 94, of Van Wert, died at 1:20 p.m., Monday at VanCrest of Convoy. She was born on November 3, 1920, in Adams County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Joseph William and Pearl (Imler) Feasby. On June 15, 1946, she married Dale Gribler who died on June 15, 1957. She married Jacob Owens, Sept. 4, 1974, who died on July 18, 2006. Family survivors include a sister, Annabelle Miller of Convoy; son-in-law, Kim (Bonnie) Hoverman of Van Wert; one grandson, Zachary (Kimberly) Hoverman of Nashville, Tennessee; and special family, Karen Goins, Sandy Goodenough, Bobbie Smith and Betty Sidenbender. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Jane Hoverman in 1988; three brothers, William, Carl and Gerald Feasby; and one sister, Geneva Gaskill. Betty retired from Canteen Corp of Van Wert in 1982. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert and a graduate of Tully-Convoy Union High School, She was a member of National Camper & Hikers for 25 years, an active member and officer of Compassionate Friends for 19 years, and assistant leader of Campfire girls for many years. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 20, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Angel of Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 3 - 5 p.m. Preferred memorials are to the Van Wert Senior Citizens or the Trinity United Methodist Church.
