Elizabeth Annette "Betty" Linton, 87, of Ridge Township, passed away at 8:32 p.m., Thursday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on July 30, 1927, in Cridersville, the daughter of the late George Phillip and Naoma Victoria (Foster) Lauck. She married her high school sweetheart, Lewis M. Linton, on June 6, 1945, and he survives. Other family members include her daughter-in-law, Judy Linton of Van Wert; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three children, Vicky L. Linton, Kenneth D. Linton and Rose Mary Engel; her brother, James Lauck; and twin brother & sister, Ronald and Beverly Lauck. Betty was a 1945 graduate of York High School where she was 3rd in her class. She was a life long homemaker and farm wife. Betty was a member of Middle Point United Methodist Church, serving over the years in many offices and as Sunday School teacher of the Christian Action Class, having started teaching Sunday School in 1947 and continued for 50 years. She was a Red Cross 23 gallon blood donor, a 4-H advisor for ten years, presiding judge for Ridge Township precinct for over 30 years, and a YWCA travel member. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at Middle Point United Methodist Church with pastor Tim Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 2 - 5 and 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services Tuesday at the Church. Preferred memorials are to the Middle Point United Methodist Church or the Thomas Edison School.
