Betty L. Gordon, 79, of Van Wert, passed away at 9:15 a.m., Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. She was born on June 16, 1938, in Logansport, Indiana, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Evadna (McNeely) Crockett. On September 6, 1959, she married Robert D. Gordon, Sr., who survives. Other family survivors include her son, Robert D. (Janet) Gordon, Jr., of Van Wert; a daughter, Rebecca E. Matthews of Van Wert; and five grandchildren, Alyssa M. Matthews, Braxton L. Matthews, JulieAnn Chiles, Katelynn Chiles, and SarahJean Gordon. Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Io Gordon and a brother, Jerry L. Crockett. Betty had worked as a nurse's aide and at Elston Chemical, G.C. Murphy & Co., in Van Wert, and Three Rivers Federal Credit Union in Fort Wayne. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Marvin Schwartz officiating. Interment will follow at Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.
