Betty Joann George, 84, of Van Wert, died at 7:57 a.m., Saturday at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born on March 17, 1931, in Liberty Township, the daughter of the late Curtis Baltas and Cynthia (Denman) Brunni. On November 19, 1950, she married Donald Eugene George who survives. Other family members include her three children, Ann (Steve) Huss of Woodville, Ohio, JR George of Ohio City, Sandra Uhlmann of Bowling Green, Ohio; six grandchildren, Angie (Steve) Hatfield, Nick George, Katie Waylon Long, John (Tracey) Huss, Allan (Ashley) Huss, and Jake (Sabrina) Uhlmann; ten great grandchildren, Dagan, Conlin and Emern Hatfield, Addison, Myra, Brant and Avelyn Huss, Parker and Georgia Long, and Jase Uhlmann; and one step grandson, Jordan Bair. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Maxine Straw and one brother, Carl C. Brunni. Betty was a 1950 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and member of the Ohio City United Methodist Church. She was a member of the TWIG of Van Wert County Hospital and served as a 4-H advisor for 25 years. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the Ohio City United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Wilcox and Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday 2 - 8 p.m., at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the Church. Preferred memorials are to the Ohio City United Methodist Church or the 4-H Endowment Fund.
