Obituary

Betty Louise Bilderback, 79, of Van Wert, died at 1:54 p.m., Friday at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on December 7, 1933, in Willshire Township, the daughter of the late William Clarence and Ida Philippina (Giessler) Bilderback. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Barbara Bashire of Van Wert; a niece, Debra Bridges of Madison, Indiana; three nephews, Doug (Renee) Germann of Ohio City, Bob (Dawn) Bilderback of Columbus, and Dennis Germann of Toledo; and several grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul William Bilderback and sister Helen M. and brother-in-law, Lorenz "Dick" Germann. Betty was a 1951 graduate of Wren High School. She retired from the Van wert County Department of Human Services in 1991 after 39 years of service. She was a long-time member of St. Paul's Reformed Church in American serving in the Women's Guild, choir, as a deacon and taught Sunday school for many years. She was active in the Van Wert Women's Bowling Association for 50 years and the a past member of the Van Wert Women's Gold Association. She bowled for over thirty years in the Women's International Bowling Association. She was a member of TWIG I of the Van Wert County Hospital. Betty had traveled extensively including Mexico, Bahamas, Alaska, Canada, and all the 50 states. Services will be held at 2 p.m, Monday, March 25, 2013, at St. Paul's Reformed Church in America with Rev. Chad Strabbing officiating. Burial will follow in Evangelical Protestant Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 6 - 8 p.m. at Cowan & Son Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Monday at the Church. Preferred memorials are to St. Paul's Church, the Inpatient Hospice Center or the donor's choice.
