Betty R. Amweg, 92, formerly of Van Wert, passed away at 10:55 a.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017 at The Manor of Lake Jackson in Sebring, Florida. She was born on April 15, 1925, in Ohio City, the daughter of late Daniel Albert and Bertha Reah (Bevington) High. On July 16, 1944, she married Delbert Glenn Amweg who preceded her in death on November 9, 1994. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucille Brown, and Patty J Lighthill;, and three brothers, Marvin D. High, Richard E. High, and Daniel Albert High, Jr. Family survivors include her sons, Donald E. (Jill) Amweg of Sebring, Florida, and Craig A. Amweg of Celina; two grandchildren, Kristi Amweg-Wilson of Warsaw, Indiana, and Kimberly (Todd) Barnhart of Sebring, Florida.; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Maci Barnhart of Sebring; two step-grandchildren, Crystal (Jason) Snyder and Jeremy Kline, and a step-greatgrandson, Christopher Snyder; a sister-in-law, Dorothy High of Portland, Indiana. Betty was a 1944 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she did visits to nursing homes and private homes. She retired from Federal Mogul after 31 years of service. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2017at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Lance Hostetler and Rev. Wayne Karges officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 6 - 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to Hospice of Van Wert.
