Bernard L. Smith, 91 of Convoy, died at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the C.H.P.-Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert. He was born in January 5, 1925 in Van Wert County, Ohio, the son of the late Lester Sylvester and Pricilla Mae (Johnson) Smith. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Smith. Bernard graduated from Convoy High School and the Ohio State University. He was a retired electrical engineer with Magnovox Corp. in Fort Wayne. He is credited with several inventions with his work at Magnovox and for the U.S.Government. Family survivors include his brother, Duane H. Smith of Golden Valley, Arizona, and a sister, Louise Earnest of Mesa, Arizona. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Jon Exman. . Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery.
