Barbara L. Rice, 68 of Van Wert, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, January 21, 2018, with family by her side. As a loving mother and wife, Barb thoroughly enjoyed camping with her husband and dog. She had a special talent for quilting, gardening and cooking. Barb attended the Ohio State University Branch in Lima and attended the former Antioch Friends Chapel near Van Wert. She worked at KAM Manufacturing for over ten years. She was born on April 9, 1949 in Toledo, Ohio. Her parents, Robert J. and Leona R. (Miller) Maxson preceded her in death. On April 11, 1975, she married Rodger D. Rice, who survives at the residence. Family survivors include her husband, Rodger; daughter, Denise J. Zinsmaster (Dave Hargis) of Lockport, Illinios; two sons, Matthew Robert "Bob" (Teresa) Rice of Toledo, and Michael (Cara) Rice of Tripoli, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Philip, Skylar, Bryan, Logan, Cameron, Levi, Caroline, Landen and Casey; and two sisters, Patricia (Charles) Harner and Sharon Bishop, both of Florida. There will be private memorial service at a later date. Preferred memorials are to the CHP Hospice or the Van Wert Humane Society.
