Anna E. Buettner, 87, of Van Wert, passed away surrounded by her family at 2:03 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013. She was born March 23, 1926, in Van Wert, the son of the late William Henry and Ernestine "Tena" (BeVard) Wilkin. On January 19, 1946, she married Donald J. Buettner, who preceded her in death on July 10, 2003. Survivors include two daughters, Jane (Jeff) Maus of Van Wert and Sherry Buettner of Lima; four grandchildren, Jason (Lindsey) Maus, Joseph (Elizabeth) Maus, Jessica Maus, and Jennifer Maus; and three great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Charles Sylvester Wilkin and John William Wilkin; and a sister, Ruby G. Rager, also preceded her in death. Anna retired from Peoples Savings Bank (Wells Fargo) in Van Wert. She was a member of Middle Point Methodist Church where she had been the church organist for many years and was a graduate of York High School. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Mark Fuerstenau officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County. Calling hours are from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 27, and an hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
