Amelia Salinas, 79 of Van Wert, died at 4:10 p.m., July 30, 2016 at the C.H.P.-Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert, Ohio She was born on June 8, 1937 in Austin, Texas, the daughter of the late Benito and Fidencia (Nieto) Piña. On April 8, 1961, she married Mike Salinas, who preceded her in death on August 9, 1993. Amelia retired from North American Phillips and was a member of the St. Marys of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert. Family survivors include her daughter, Stella Salinas of Van Wert; two brothers, Eli Piña of Lima, Ohio and Richard Piña of Chicago; and three sisters, Carmen (Armando) Garcia of Fort Wayne, Lupe (Baldemar) Bejarano of Defiance, and Teresa Quiñones of Lima, Ohio. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday August 2, 10:30a.m. at the St. Marys of the Assumption Catholic Church, officiated by Father Charles Obinwa & Father Stan Stzbka. Visitation is Monday August 1, 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home, with a rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Interment is at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, Ohio.
