Alta Eileen Zinn, 93, of Van Wert, died at 8:34 a.m., Saturday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born on February 9, 1921, in Hoaglin Township, the daughter of the late Albertus "Bert" and Caroline (Akom) Bashore. On October 27, 1946, she married Gale Willard Zinn who preceded her in death on June 1, 2010. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Matilda E. Smith and Thelma Neuhauser and one brother, Johnnie A. Bashore. Family members include two sons, Dennis (Linda) Zinn of Atlanta, Georgia and Bruce Zinn of Van Wert; one daughter, Connie (Gordon) Rauch of Cridersville; two sisters, Louise Leiter and Alice Thomas, both of Van Wert; one brother, Christie F. Bashore of Rockford; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Alta was a member of Mount Pleasant church and had worked for over 20 years at Marsh Foundation. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 - 8 p.m., Monday. Preferred memorials are to Youth For Christ.
