Allen W. Eckhart, 82, died at 8:20 p.m., Saturday at his residence west of Convoy. He was born on December 14, 1934, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the son of Frank H. and Minnie Irene Eckhart. On May 29, 1964, he married the former Gaylee Bush who survives. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Slemmer. Allen was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and drove truck for Roadway Trucking out of Ft. Wayne. He was a member of American Legion Post 208 in Convoy and the V.F.W. Post of Van Wert. He enjoyed many YWCA bus trips and was an assistant to the Van Wert Community Band for many years. There will be calling hours 12 - 2 p.m., Tuesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Convoy I.O.O.F. Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the combined honor guard of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
