Alice L. Thomas, 90, of Ohio City died at 12:45 p.m., Wednesday at VanCrest of Van Wert. She was born on December 28, 1924, in Hoaglin Township, the daughter of the late Albertus "Bert" and Caroline (Akom) Bashore. On June 19, 1949, she married Gordon A. Thomas who died on November 16, 2003. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Johnnie A. Bashore and three sisters, Matilda E. Smith, Thelma Neuhouser and Alta E. Zinn. Family survivors include her son, Toby (Linda) Thomas of Ohio City; one brother, Christie F. Bashore of Rockford; one sister, Louise Leiter of Van Wert; two grandsons, Jeffrey (Allison) Thomas of Maineville, Ohio and Travis Thomas of Cincinnati; and two great grandchildren, Sydney and Jason Thomas. Alice was a graduate of Hoaglin-Jackson High School and member of the former Mt. Zion Bible Church. She was a farm wife all her life. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 28, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 12 noon to time of service on Friday. Preferred memorials are to the State of the Heart Hospice.
