Robert Richey Obituary

Robert F. Richey, 72, of Venedocia and formerly of Rockford, died at 1:54 a.m., Tuesday at Colonial Nursing Center in Rockford.

He was born on September 9, 1946, in Payne, Ohio the son of the late George R. and Virginia M. (Kemerly) Richey. 

Family survivors include his three children, Cassandra K. (Mike) Baker of Venedocia, Robert Lee (Julie) Richey of Washington State, and Trevor (Emily ) Sill of Willshire; a brother, Dave (Brenda) Richey of Van Wert; a sister, Gwen Woods of Payne; six grandchildren Ryan Richey, Cole Richey, Zackary Lamb, Gabryelle Sill, Oliver Sill, and Hayzell Sill; special daughters, Liza Shroyer, Hannah Beougher, Sadie Wreede and Tiffany (Mozingo) Schnipke; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Carlton Richey and Gerald E. Richey; a grand daughter; and special friend Stan Mozingo.

He was a graduate of Lincolnview High School and had attended Wesley United Methodist Church. He retired from the U.S. Army having served in Viet Nam. Robert also retired from Goodyear in St. Marys. He was a member of American Legion Post #346, Ohio City, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5713, Celina, Disabled American Veterans Chapter #54 of Van Wert, and Rockford Eagle Aerie #1292. He had sang in the Glory Gospel Group and was an avid hunter, enjoying many turkey shoots.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #346, Ohio City. Calling hours will be Friday 2 - 7 p.m.
