Robert G. Reitzel, 82, of Van Wert died at 2:35 p.m., Friday at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.
He was born on July 17, 1936, in Pemberville, Ohio the son of the late Howard F. and Leora Anna (Ernsthausen) Reitzel.
Family survivors include his son, Eric Reitzel of Charlotte, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Jude and Abby Reitzel; and two sisters, Carol Messick of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan and Joyce Schwartz Reitzel of Towson, Maryland.
Robert was a graduate of Pemberville High School and attended the Ohio State University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post 178, Van Wert. He operated the Drive Way Driving School. Bob was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church and the Van Wert Camp of Gideons International.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 10, 2018, at St. Marks Lutheran Church with Rev. William C. Haggis, II officiating. Military rites will follow conducted by the combined honor guard of the American Legion and V.F.W. Posts of Van Wert. There will be calling hours 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Monday morning also at the Church. Interment will be at a later date at Fish Cemetery near Pemberville.
Preferred memorials are to the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center.
