It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our brother, James Atlee Gehres on July 27, 2019. He would have turned 77 on August the 20th. The cancer that he battled many years ago, returned. He went quickly and is now with our beloved parents, Woodrow Atlee and Irene Berniece (Kreischer) Gehres, who both preceded him in death. No service will be held at this time.
He is survived by his brother: Larry D. (and Marlene) Gehres Midland, Virginia, Sisters: Karen (and Edwin) Williams Independence, Oregon and Shirley (and Kenneth) Galloway Worthington, OH and three nieces, two nephews, and 6 grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was in the last graduation class of Wren High School in 1960. He graduated from Oberlin College and then received a master’s degree from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. In the early days of the civil rights movement, he worked with Coretta Scott King and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Later in life he moved to St Paul, MN where he worked for Pepsi Corporation and was active with his Union.
We request that any remembrances be made to the Wren Ohio EMS or to St. Paul’s Reformed Church, Harrison Township.
