Douglas Wierwille Obituary

Douglas J. Wierwille, 65, of rural Rockford, passed away at 12:52 p.m., Thursday at Vancrest of Van Wert.

He was born on October 18, 1954, in Lima, the son of the late Leland R. “Mouse” and Nancy Lou (Bryan) Wierwille. On October 20, 1979, he married the former Janet S. Bashore who survives.

Other family members include his three children, Mathew (Jena) Wierwille of Columbus, Ohio, Ryan Wierwille and fiancee Trisha Garner of Decatur, Indiana and Sarah Wierwille of Columbus, Ohio; and a grandchild, Mackenzie Wierwille.

Doug was a 1973 graduate of Spencerville High School. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1973-1977 and was a member of American Legion Post 178, Van Wert. Doug attended Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert. He spent his life in various positions in the medical field. He had an easy way with people and enjoyed taking care of them. Doug loved his family, always making them laugh. He also enjoyed listening to classic rock and was a lifelong fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns.

Besides his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his brother Darren Wierwille.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 11, 2019, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Clark Williman officiating. Interment will follow at Ohio City Woodlawn Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 346, of Ohio City. Calling hours are 1 - 5 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to CHP Hospice.
